January Favorites

Happy Weekend guys! I wanted to kick-start a new monthly favorites series on the blog. It is a great way to share what I have been loving through the past month, be it a beauty product, a fashion item or even a great new TV show. So without further adieu, lets get started with my January Favorites.

Daniel Wellington Watch – I was introduced to the brand a couple of years back on Instagram. Back then, I knew very little of the social media popularity the watch has garnered. So when I got the opportunity to collaborate with them last December incidentally on Instagram, I jumped at the offer. I went with the Classic Petite Ashfield (32 mm) design. It is light-weight as is with all DW watches, and the design is simple and classic. I love the black dial and the matte black mesh strap with the stunning rose gold accents is so stunning. I absolutely love this watch and cannot recommend it enough for yourself or as a gift for someone special. P.S. They have great packaging!

Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation– Koh Gen do is a natural ingredient cosmetics company from Japan that I had never heard of until a few months back. I know Korean skincare is all the rage but seriously the Japanese know what they are doing. I was sent their best-seller products to try which included their Aqua Foundation. Now on most days (like 360 days) I proudly wear my face sans foundation. There is no reason for not wearing foundation but mostly I have acne prone skin and most foundations feel heavy on my skin. Anyway, coming to this particular foundation, it is described to be formulated with minerals and botanical emollients and extracts, to cover smoothen and cover imperfections while feeling weightless and comfortable. I can’t comment on the minerals part but everything else stands true. It feels great on my skin while giving me a dewy natural complexion.

Where to shop -You can get the foundation from their website, Nordstrom or Sephora.

Good to know – It is free of Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, cruelty-free and do not contain artificial colors, fragrance, or mineral oil.

Forest Essentials Madurai Jasmine & Mogra Lotion – For those of you who don’t know, Forest Essentials is a luxury ayurvedic skincare brand from India. I will not attempt to summarise the brand’s philosophy when they do a pretty good job themselves, read it here. I went to India in September and found out that Forest Essentials had opened up in my city Jodhpur. So obviously I had to go and buy something because you need massive self-control when the entire store smells like a spa. I had a hard time narrowing down the fragrance but eventually went with the Madurai Jasmine & Mogra. The name itself is a mouthful but oh it smells divine. I only started using it recently during the winters to tackle the dry and flaky skin. The lotion reads ultra rich and is very moisturizing.

Where to shop – If you are in India, there is no trouble finding a store or ordering online. The website offers international shipping but I also found few products on Amazon and on Herbalusastore.

Movies & TV shows

Black Mirror Season 4 – It is rare to find a TV series with stand-alone episodes leave such a lasting impression. Black Mirror does that. The show examines the realities of a modern society (to which we are heading towards) and its high tech innovations leading to unanticipated consequences. If you love anthology series then watch Inside No. 9, also a British show. Seriously, British shows are the best.

The Crown Season 2 – Speaking of the British, ‘The Crown’ is another favorite. I love period dramas and after Downton Abbey, I really needed something to fill the void.

Thor Ragnarok – I know I am late to the party but I finally watched Thor Ragnarok and freaking loved it. I say this keeping aside my bias for Chris Hemsworth, the movie is hilarious. And yes, Thor looks good even with the short hair but you already knew that, right?

Jumanji : Welcome to the Jungle – I have watched and rewatched the 1995 cult classic Jumanji as a kid. It was nostalgic to watch the sequel on screen and I have to say it does not disappoint. It is entertaining and very funny. I love the Kevin Hart-The Rock pairing but Jack Black really takes the prize in this one.

P.S. If you have any movie or TV shows to recommend please leave a comment below or on my Facebook or Instagram.
