I have fond memories of celebrating Christmas in early years of my school. There would be no classes that day but a fun day with songs, sweets and Secret Santa. I grew up in a joint family of six sisters who thankfully shared the same enthusiasm for Christmas, considering we are not Christians. We had a designated Christmas tree that closely resembled a fir tree which we would decorate with colorful streamers and stars. We thought it was important to have snow on our tree so we used cotton balls to replicate it. After that we would march in procession with baby Jesus (played by a doll, of course!) and place it on the tree and sing Jingle Bells (we were kids!). My aunt would bake a chocolate cake for us and we would go on with our day extremely proud of our Christmas celebration. I don’t know how this process came about but it became a Christmas tradition for us and we loved it.
While I may not celebrate Christmas the same way, I try to find that Christmas spirit and feel the same excitement. For me watching Christmas movies is the best way to get into a festive mood. Some of my favorites include, Holiday, Love Actually, Home Alone 1-2, Bridget Jones Diary, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Polar Express and The Elf. This year I even got my own tree and had fun decorating it. I also love to go out to see the festive decor on the streets and shops.
Lastly, Boohoo sent me these Christmas sweaters that I made Vikram wear because I wasn’t doing this by myself. I have been wanting to get one for myself but not those ugly Christmas sweaters and Boohoo has the cutest collection. My reindeer sweater is so Christmassy and I have received so many compliments for it. If these don’t spell out Christmas for you then I don’t know what does.
I also liked their sweaters with funny quotes that are still available on their site. Apart from the holiday collection Boohoo has an amazing collection of apparel and accessories for men, women and kids. I hope this post brought some holiday cheer to you. I would love to read your holiday traditions.
