Dressing for winter is cumbersome. At least for me. Since you are dressing for utmost warmth, fashion can sometimes take a backseat. If there has to be one item that you need in your winter wardrobe, it would be a staple coat. A basic black, camel or grey winter coat is a good way to start. Last winter, I got myself a camel coat and it has easily become my most worn coat. Today’s outfit has to be my go-to winter look. A cozy sweater with a classic overcoat, leggings, and boots. These Hottotties leggings are so warm, cozy and super stretchy. I got them as a base layer for my recent trip but I have been wearing them almost every day now. I think it is socially acceptable to wear leggings/tights instead of jeans in winter.
I added a wool beret that I have had for years to complete this winter look. It is the ultimate accessory to complement all of those long coats, tweed suits, plaid blazers, and turtlenecks. To me, a beret is a mere accessory serving no functional purpose. I mean it doesn’t cover your ears so you are definitely not staying warm in it. It does, however, serve towards fulfilling our desire to emulate the French. It turns out everyone is wearing the beret except the French. Having said that, I do admit they look good. Overall this winter uniform is simple, functional and chic.
