Parisian Stripes

Nothing spells out Parisian chic like a striped look. In terms of French style, breton stripes are a classic piece. When I see pictures of French women, I obviously want to dress like them. The key is simplicity. Black being the major color, followed by gray; both instantly bring out sophistication and elegance. With black you can dress it casually or formally and it works wonders. French women keep accessories to a minimum and wear flats.

Growing up, my father would urge me to wear flats and ditch heels and I did listen to him. Later after completing college, I started to buy more heels but soon realised that they were good only when I wore them to work (while I sat in my chair the whole time) or dinner parties. My footwear choices are sensible now, I look for comfort and style together. These Zara mustard flats are my absolute favorite, I’ve had so much wear out of them.

The dress is from Madewell, a brand I have started to like in the last year. My first Madewell purchase was a set of tank tops and they are the softest tees I own. Essentially a jeans brand, the clothes at Madewell are classic and cool for everyday wear. There is nothing glossy about their line. Simple, effortless, functional and definitely made well.
