An Indian Summer

In case you didn’t know autumn in Rajasthan (India) is like an Indian Summer and dressing up while surviving the soaring temperatures can be a dilemma. With this post, I bring you a cool and chic solution. I am wearing a cotton dress from Anokhi which is light and breezy and paired with silver earrings from Amprapali to complete the look. They make a perfect blend of heritage and contemporary textile.

From the land that has always been domicile of adroit artisans, Anokhi is known for its contemporary crafted textiles and are experts in hand block printing. They work with local artisans to promote a sustainable system.

Both Anokhi and Amprapali share with me its birthplace: the culturally rich & royal state of Rajasthan.

The eye catching block prints are easily distinguishable from other brands. It makes for an aesthetically pretty garment!

Even though a lot of colors have been incorporated in the dress, in entirety it is subtle and seems to compliment the place so perfectly!

In case you are wondering, we did the shoot at Jaswant Thada, a royal cenotaph located in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh of Jodhpur State in 1899 in memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. It is a tribute to the royal rulers of Marwar. The mausoleum is built out of intricately carved sheets of marble. These sheets are extremely thin and polished so that they emit a warm glow when illuminated by the sun. I must mention here that Jodhpur is also called the Sun City.
